Seamus Coffey is an Economics Lecturer at University College Cork. He is also a member of the external advisory board to the Irish Governmental Economic Evaluation Service and of the council of the Irish Economic Association. 

Seamus was previously a member of the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council which he later chaired. He was also the appointed as the independent expert by to undertake a review of Ireland's Corporation Tax code by the Minister for Finance in 2016.
